Notes for Wilbur E. Van Scyoc:
Wilber E. VanScyoc
The many relatives and friends of Wilbur VanScyoc were grieved when the sad news was received that he was dead. He was one of the prominent business men of New Lexington. A man who was held in high esteem by everyone. He was born at Somerton O., Feb 27, 1913. Had he lived one day more he would have been forty-eight years old. He was married to Arizaba bolon, Sept. 25, 1886. To this union, three children were born, Mrs. Edna Chapplier, Granvill VanScyoc, and Ernest Dewey, who died in infancy. Mr. VanScyoc had been living in New Lexington about fifteen years. He was the son of William VanScyoc, who preceded him two years and one month. He leaves a wife, one son and one daughter to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. All that kind and loving hands could do was done to stay the disease, but he was too weak to battle his disease.
The funeral services were at the First Methodist Church in New Lexington, at 2 P.M., where the body was viewed by a large congregation of mourning friends. Rev. Andree read from the 42 Psalm, his text was "Now within three days we will cross the river of Jordan." He was laid to rest in Maple Grove cemetery. The floral offerings were beautiful.
