Elder Harrison Burke as he was commonly known, was a Primitive Baptist Elder. At one time he pastored 4 churches in the Blackwater, Va area. He was what we call a "circuit preacher". My mother, Nettie Mae Burke, used to go out with her mother, Louisa, and knock ice off stirrups so grandpa could get down off horse. Wonder how many ministers today would endure those hardships to preach the gospel. We owe our message of receiving eternal life to men and women who were dedicated like him. - Baker Coat of Arms (30 KB)
