FAMILY! Is there anything more important? HISTORY! How fascinating. PHOTOS! Those little bits of captured time are my lifelong passion. No wonder I am so drawn to genealogy. I hope that by publishing this information I will be able to help anyone who has interest in these family lines. My main interest has been the following lines: FERENCY/FERENCZ JANKOVITS DRANE FETTES BAKER KROH BURDICK Thus far I have spent most of my efforts entering in those farthest back in time. I am constantly adding more data and photos to this website, so please do visit again at a later date. Accuracy: The Burdick, Kroh, and Hubbard lines are all well documented. There was a book written about the descendants of Robert Burdick, as well as a book written about the Hubbards. (" 800 Years of Hubbard Family History"). The Ferency, Jankovits, Drane and Fettes family histories do not go far enough back for me to doubt their accuracy. The Hungarian portion is from those who actually live in "The Old Country" and have great regard for their history. I realize you do have to be careful with genealogy. I have followed our family tree online back to Adam and Eve! Whilst I have no doubt that this is where it would lead, I do seriously doubt the documentation of this line. To believe it, you would have to also believe that not only was every ancestor of such import that their lives would have been recorded (in times when they usually were not) but that no record had ever, ever, been destroyed. Call me a skeptic, but I am not buying it! Unlike some who are driven to fill in the blanks with a name...any name, I want to be reasonably certain the data is correct. I am not in this for any reason than curiosity, interest in history, and a deep love of family. Adding just any name will not do. We have been instructed to be "good stewards", and I feel that one way I can do that is to share all this information and photographs that others have been kind enough to pass on to me. It will do far more good online than it will sitting on my shelves gathering dust. The Kroh line is vast, thanks to a distant cousin who took the time to catalog every descendant from 1800 to 1900. I can not imagine the work that took, and on a manual typewriter to boot. I am honored to be able to upload this information. "The mark of a Scot of all classes [is that] he ... remembers and cherishes the memories of his forebears, good or bad; and there burns alive in him a sense of identity with the dead even to the twentieth generation.“ -- Robert Louis Stevenson -- ~~~~~~~~~~ An old Gaelic proverb says: “Cuimhnich air na daoine o'n d'thainig thu.” (Remember the men from whence you came.) | |
