I am researching the surnames Baker, Hinton, Gray, and Taylor. They are all from the Northern Panhandle area of West Virginia.
Our Baker line goes back to Captain John Baker of the Revolutionary War.We are descended from Jacob,Sr. through Jacob, Jr. I have the most information on this famous line, of the four.

The Hintons are from Ellenboro, West Virginia. My ancestor's name was Joseph Hinton, and his father was Charles Hinton.

The Grays are from Oxford, West Virginia, settling there from somewhere in Pennsylvania in the early 1800's. Those settling in from Pennsylvania were James and Elizabeth Gray and family, in what is now Preston County, West Virginia by the 1850 census.

The Taylors are an obscure lot to me from West Virginia (at least that was where they lived when my known ancestor was born), but the specific region is not known at this time. My ancestor's parents were reported to be Deilda Jane Headley and Lemul Taylor. At this time I don't have any birth, marriage, or death dates for them.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. I am new to genealogy. Hope to hear from you.
