Notes for E
LLENDER COUCH:
Ellender called Nillie, died after 8 August 1850 and before 4 November 1854.

Terry Carpenter has Eleanor (Ellender) residing in Louisiana about 1854. Where he does not say, but we do know that she was deceased before 4 November 1854 and that William Baker died on 31 May 1854 in Shreveport, LA. We do not believe he lived there because all of his estate was in Tyler County, Texas. It was believed he was there on a visit and died in a cholera epidemic and was buried in a common grave in a dirt street of Shreveport.

Book by Jas. E. Wooley: A Collection of Upper South Carolina Genealogical and Family Records, Vol. III (Southern Historical Press, 1981), about Ellender Baker being in Louisiana. It is an affidavit about John Couch Sr.'s estate, in Pack 218, #4, Clerk of Court Office, Pickens, S.C., filed 3 Sept. 1860. It has identical information about the land and heirs except a little more about Ellender, listing her as: "Ellender Baker decd. who was the wife of Wm. Baker decd. and lived in Louisiana about 1854." This affidavit was filed about 3 years after the one in 1858. Apparently they were still trying to trace the Baker heirs, or prove them?
