an unmarried spinster. Frederick and Mildred Baker met her in July 1963.
Beryl was helpful with this family tree by furnishing photos, especially of Elizabeth Astley.
Beryl was five years old when she started school. It was a private school named Clerver and she stayed there until she was nine. She then changed to an elementary school for two more years. She finished schooling by the time she was fifteen at the City Road School.
Beryl started working, at age sixteen, as a clerk at the Alexandria Clark Co. Ltd. in the jewelery district of Birmingham. By now WWII had started and she had to get into war production. She labored at making aircraft for Austin Aero Ltd. At the end of the war, she was transferred to Austin Motor Company as a clerk. The company name was later changed to British Leyland, from which she took an early retirement at age 58, in 1981.

HARLES JOHN JOSEPH BAKER:
Charley was born at #3 Grafton Terrace, Greenwich, [Kent] England.
He entered the USA Jan 1912. Alma and Gladys "Doris" on May 10, 1912. Charley was an amateur photographer before 1900. When he came from England, he brought many photos that were instrumental in composing the family album. He was an electrician in England. Charley came to Sharon, Pennsylvania USA to be a mechanic at Driggs-Seabury Plant, builders of chain driven trucks.
He became a naturalized citizen on April 2, 1920. He purchased one acre of land August 26, 1922 for ten dollars, and didn't build on it until 1938, their final home in Hubbard, Oh.
He was a Mason, and Master of Western Star Lodge #21 in 1928, and spent a lifetime in support of Masonic Lodges.
Charley suffered a stroke in December 1952, and died over two years later in Northside Hospital, Youngstown,[Mahoning] Oh. Burial: Tod Homestead Cemetery, [Mahoning] Youngstown.

Minnie Bates and Alma Bates not related, only as sisters in law.
Alma arrived in USA May 10, 1912, with her daughter Gladys "Doris" Baker. This was four months after Charles arrived. The later date was due to the sinking of the Titanic in April 1912.
Alma was very active in the Masonic Lodges and was a charter member in several of the ladies auxiliaries, holding some offices. She was a member of the Caldron and the Eastern Star.
Alma had diabetes and had to have her right leg removed about six weeks before she died. She died of heart failure in Delfs Nursing Home, Woodworth, [Mahoning] Oh. Burial: Tod Homestead Cemetery, Youngstown, Ohio
