Dear Friend

Of friends in life I count but few
For people oft annoy
But up on high there sits you
For you bring me only joy

Whenever friend you are near
My world you make so bright
Your warmth can dry the wettest tear
Your smile sets me alight

If only you were here right now
To show the way ahead
I would not have this farrowed brow
And could rest my troubled Head

But still as I just think of you
My world has a little light
For while my friends may be but few
I shall see them all tonight
