Find Family
Alan and Maggie Baldwin welcome you to our family home page.

We hope to build this site to include all our family connections, and to give a word picture of the lives they lived.

The Tree is built around the Bushell family, that is Maggie's Family. It has however spread wide from there. The people concerned mainly come from the North East of the County of Kent in England.

In here you won't find great statesmen or pioneers but you will find men and women that served their country, and contributed to the community around them. There are some notables, a Butler to the Astor family from the turn of the century, a man who turned down a close relationship with William Morris, of car fame, to keep his word to act as a driver to Lord Salisbury in India during the first world war.Two who were awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for their actions in WW1. Plus some who were legends in their own minds.

We have many new friends on the Internet and have found a second homem and central point to for our researches in the Genealogy Experience pages.(WEB LINK BELOW) I have not added the usual list of helpful WEB links to the Name Search sites as these are more than amply covered in the previous site. As are great tips on starting in Genealogy and searching for information.

If anybody wants to speak to me at anytime I am usually to be found between 6pm - 10pm UK time in the "A Genealogy Chat" room on the previous site where I am one of the Hosts. So why not come along for a chat, and meet my friends.

THe following tree is a combination of our own work and other members of interrelated families. While the tree of Richard Bushell shown in his outline is made up of original or verified research the remainder is, as yet, unchecked by ourselves. However, like all information of this nature, you should verify it yourself and document. Documentation is primarily made up of contemporary Certificates Birth, Marriage, and death,or copies of the original or filmed registers of the events, such as Baptism. All other evidence is merely contributary to the picture it adds colour and perspective to an otherwise plain tree. But if we allow this contributary evidence to cloud our mind and warp the tree we do ourselves an injustice.

Please feel free to roam and enjoy. Any comments or suggestions would be greatfully received. We would especially be pleased to hear if you have any additions or amendments to these families.

GEDCOM Trees (viewing trees requires 4.0 or later)

  • Largely the Setterfield Tree - Author P Wilson (131 KB)
This tree was kindly sent to me by Pauline Wilson. She is a great authority on the Thanet families and this tree connects to ours via the Thomas Bushell m Mary Setterfield link.
  • Curling Family of Chiltern House St Lawrence (31 KB)
This family has a coonection with our Doughty line but it is not proved yet. This tree was found as a photocopied piece in the Margate Library Heritage centre. It was a photo copy of an article on the Curling family and the tree. It is very short on dates however but seems to show Lineage
  • Doughty/Dowty/Douty Family Line (108 KB)
THis is the doughty family line of Maggies Grandmother Sarah Elizabeth Doughty.
