Notes for Benjamin Adsit: He was a path master in Crum Elbow as early as 1768 in District 42. His will was written in Washington Town 4/8/1793. He mentioned wife Rhody and brothers George and Samuel. He gave his wife the land he had purchased from his brother Sameul. The will was proved 7/24/1793. The PJ of 7/31/1793 carried the following notice: "To be sold at private sale, a valuable farm, in the Town of Washington, in Dutchess Co., containing 100 acres of land, under good improvement, late the property of Benjamin Adjet, deceased; on it is a good large house with six rooms below and 3 above, a barn and a new cooper's shop, with other outhouses; the land is very good, sufficient meadows, and the whole well watered, the great wappingers creek adjoining -- a good orchard of the best fruit. Also 50 acres of valuable woodland, a mile and quarter to the northward of said farm. The whole to be sold together or separate, as may best suit the purchaser."
