Benjamin Adsit (son of John Adsit and Mary)1 was born Oct 26, 1728 in Lyme, New London Co., CT2, and died Jul 1793 in Washington Twp., Dutchess Co., NY. He married Rhoda Chadwick on Apr 1750, daughter of Jonathan Chadwick and Lucy.
Notes for Benjamin Adsit: He was a path master in Crum Elbow as early as 1768 in District 42. His will was written in Washington Town 4/8/1793. He mentioned wife Rhody and brothers George and Samuel. He gave his wife the land he had purchased from his brother Sameul. The will was proved 7/24/1793. The PJ of 7/31/1793 carried the following notice: "To be sold at private sale, a valuable farm, in the Town of Washington, in Dutchess Co., containing 100 acres of land, under good improvement, late the property of Benjamin Adjet, deceased; on it is a good large house with six rooms below and 3 above, a barn and a new cooper's shop, with other outhouses; the land is very good, sufficient meadows, and the whole well watered, the great wappingers creek adjoining -- a good orchard of the best fruit. Also 50 acres of valuable woodland, a mile and quarter to the northward of said farm. The whole to be sold together or separate, as may best suit the purchaser."
