  Notes for Susan Mary Hiter:
Aunt Sue lived at Rotherwood when Kate Willis was growing up. She had TB in her youth. Kate's mother Louise offered her a home. Aunt Sue was sickly. The story goes that everyone in the house was sick except Aunt Sue, Kate and Katherine (the cook). Sue took to her bed along with everyone else. When Katherine loaded up Sue's tray with biscuits, Kate took all but one off and delivered the tray to Aunt Sue. Very soon Sue crept down to the kitchen and said, "I believe I could have another biscuit."

According to Kate Willis (Ballard), Sue and her sister Virgie were born after their mother had had a stroke.

When Henry Milton Byrne was buried, part of his wife's remains were exhumed and reburied with him. Both their names are on the tombstone.
