HILLENBRAND ~ TENBARGE families and Allied lines I am researching the HILLENBRAND families from DEU>VA>OH>IN, IL & KS. Descendants of Christopher 'Andreas' Hillenbrand 1 Christopher 'Andreas' Hillenbrand .. +Margarette ( ) Wihl ...... 2 Thersia Theresia? ( ) Hillenbrand ...... 2 Louisa ( ) Hillenbrand ...... 2 Henry H? Hillenbrand .......... +Margaret Apollonia Hertling ...... 2 William (Chris's) Hillenbrand, Sr .......... +Katherine ( ) Kissel ...... 2 Paul ( ) Hillenbrand .......... +Catharina 'Caty' Naegele ...... 2 Caspar ( ) Hillenbrand .......... +Magdalena (wife of Cas) Emmigrated to Ohio County, VA (now in WV) from Frankenthal, Germany before 1840. 6/15/1840 census of Ohio County, VA lists a daughter 0-5 years (could be Thersia), a son (unkn age categ.) It may be Henry? (pg 1-Hillenbrand) and an older male age 15-20. (Who is this male?) Margaret Wihl was 26 and Christopher was 32 at this time. They later moved to Batesville, IN, then to near Evansville, Vanderburgh, IN. And, the TENBARGE families from the Netherlands>?>IN, & KS: --- At the address NR 265 in Lintvelde, Holland (now Eiberseweg 1) there have always lived descendants of Antonius TenBarge. Josephus Johannes Antonius tenBarge lives at the address Eibergseweg 1. (Formerly NR 265 Lintvelde.) Barge was the original name, which progressed to ten Barge, then to tenBarge and Tenbarge. It is pronounced Ten bar gay. Per German records they left on 7/23/1846. It is believed they entered the U.S. through the Port of New Orleans. We have located only 6 of Arnoldus and Johanna's children's records in America. Garrit Jan (Gerald John)(3/9/1821) has no record in America known to us. He would have been 25 before they departed. He had to be one of the seven. Did he marry on the boat over, or in New Orleans and stay there? Where is Garrit? Christianus and his wife Wilhelmina (tenBome) came over to America with them. They had no children. Msgr Albert Schmitt (maternal uncle) in his history of St Wendel Church, indicates Arnoldus donated $6 and his brother Christian donated $20 to the new church building fund, therefore, assume they made it to St Wendel from New Orleans. Whereabouts from landing to 1848 unknown. In 1848 Arnoldus bought land north of St Wendel, IN. Hermanes was age 29, and if alive, Garrit was 27. They all lived together. 1852 Arnoldus sold the land to Herman; they continued to live with him. In 1856 Arnold bought a farm at St James, IN. Any information would be appreciated.
