| My Williamson family line goes back to 1827. Francis Williamson (Parents and Birth Unknown) married Catherine Stronach born 23/10/1798. daughter of James Stronach and Catherine ms Gray, married Francis 04/10/1827. They had a son Alexander born 17/03/1829 who married Elisabeth Henderson 29/08/1856 in Edinburgh. Their son Alexander was born 05/04/1858 in Edinburgh and subsequently moved to Glasgow between 1881 and 1897 when he married Mary Willis Buntain 19/11/1897. They had a daughter my Aunt Mary Willis Williamson who was born 1898 and my father Alexander who was born in Glasgow 19/11/1900. My Grandfather, Alexander, apparently went to America between 1906 and 1910 to find work. The Mitchell Library Glasgow have Poor Law Records of my Grandfather's death in 1910 in Newburgh,New York. I have written to Newburgh County Clerk, who has done a search and can find no trace of my Grandfather's death despite the fact that my Grandmother remarried in 1911. I have searched for years and can find no record of my Grandfather's death. |
