733. Ada Blanche HOLBERT Photo was born on 24 Mar 1920 in Vanwood, Slab Fork, Raleigh County, West Virginia. She died on 11 Jan 1970 in Nelsonville, Athens County, Ohio at the Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She was buried on 16 Jan 1970 in Athens County, Ohio in the Coolville Cemetery. Her birth certificate listed her given name as Susan.

She was married to Alvin Clay ADAMS (son of James "Jim" Lewis ADAMS and Martha Jane "Doolie" MALE) in 1936 in Morgan County, Ohio. Alvin Clay ADAMS Photo was born on 30 Jun 1900 in Girta, Wirt County, West Virginia. He died on 19 Jan 1938 in Carr Hill, Ohio. Clay Adams Ends Life With Shotgun. Clay Adams, 38, colored, a son of James Adams, below Douda, ended his life January 19, 1938 about 3 o'clock by shooting himself with a shotgun. The load entered his chest and he died about three hours after the shot was fired.

He had been despondent for some time. Adams, who lives at the foot of Carr Hill in Marion Township on the William A. Grimes place, had been employed in a mine at Millfield. Accompanied by his father-in-law, a Mr. Holbert of near Pennsville, he had returned home during the afternoon, bringing his wife, who had been away on a visit. Holbert and the operator of a nearby coal mine were standing outside the house when they heard the lethal shot. A doctor was summoned upon their discovery of the deed but Adams died about 6 o'clock. He had resided on the Grimes place nearly a year, moving there from the Leslie Davis property nearby. Surviving are the widow and one child. Coroner Dr. Edgar Northrup has been summoned for an inquest."


He was buried in Athens County, Ohio, in the Mount Herman Cemetery. Ada Blanche HOLBERT and Alvin Clay ADAMS had the following children:

She was married to Clarence NICHOLS (son of William C. "Bill" NICHOLS and Mary F. HILL) in 1938. She was divorced from Clarence NICHOLS in 1945. Ada Blanche HOLBERT and Clarence NICHOLS had the following children:

She was married to Ernest "Bus" TABLER (son of David E. C. TABLER and Winnie Fay FLOWERS) in 1946. Ernest "Bus" TABLER was born about 1920. He died in Oct 1980 in Stewart, Rome Township, Athens County, Ohio.
