1. JETHRO⁶ BARNES (JOSEPH⁵, EDWARD⁴, ("MISSING-LINK")³, THOMAS², EDWARD¹) was born Bef. 1751 in Northampton County,NC?, and died Abt. 1812 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina. He married NANCY PENDER Bef. 1785 in North Carolina, daughter of JOSEPH PENDER and FAITH BRIDGERS. She was born Aft. 1764 in Northampton County, NC?, and died 1821 in Edgecombe County, North Carolina.

Notes for JETHRO BARNES:
Jethro Barnes did not leave a will; however there was an estate sale(listed in Records of
Edgecombe County, NC 1730-1820). The estate was inventoried by Reddick
Barnes for February Court, 1813. Sarah Barnes was the principle buyer and other
buyers included: Stephen Barnes, Reddick Barnes, Jesse Barnes Jr., Enos
Barnes, Abner Barnes, Willie Barnes, James Barnes, Jesse Barnes Sr., and
Jethro Barnes(Jr.). Audit and settlement of account November Court, 1814.
Inventory of property given by Jethro Barnes prior to his death to his sons:
Jesse Barnes, Jethro Barnes of Baldwin Co.,GA, William Barnes, Michael Barnes
,and Enos Barnes and to daughter, Elizabeth Marchman, wife of John Marchman,
taken Jan. 25,1816, Feb. Court, 1816. Division of sale of estate of Jethro Barnes,
Sr., taking into account the value of the estate advanced during the lifetime of the
deceased, the estate equally divided among Elizabeth Marchman, Jethro Barnes,
Jesse Barnes, Michael Barnes, Enos Barnes, and Sally Parrish; William Barnes
has already received more than a proportionate part.

Evidence that Jethro was the son of Joseph Barnes who died in 1751 is limited to:
a.)He is the only Jethro Barnes mentioned in any general North Carolina records from Joseph Barnes' 1751 will in Northampton County until 1774 in Edgecombe County. From 1774-1812, there are various deed-records of a Jethro in Edgecombe County, but not in any other NC county.
b.)The Jethro who was the son of Joseph was apparently a minor (Joseph died young) at the time of Joseph's will in 1751. He could've been a small boy then and still be 'young-enough' to be the father of Enos Barnes (born 1790) and even of William Pender Barnes (born 1804).

Jethro Barnes(Jr.) mentioned in Estate Sale Records from Edgecombe County,
NC 1813-1816 of his father, Jethro Barnes(Sr.).
In Henry County, GA in 1824, Jethro was the administrator of the Estate of Willis Barnes, deceased. Enos assisted him with the estate inventory. Relationship of Willis to Jethro and Enos unclear.
