Descendants of Thomas Barron

Generation No. 2

      3. Samuel B.2 Barron (Thomas1) was born October 16, 1808 in Georgia, and died June 08, 1896 in Nacogdoches, Texas. He married Phoebe Barber September 13, 1838 in Chambers County, Alabama, daughter of George Barber and Elizabeth Reynolds. She was born 1818 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, and died March 16, 1900 in Nacogdoches, Texas.

Notes for Samuel B. Barron:
On September 21 1859 then governor I. H. Runnels gave to Samuel B. Barron 160 acres
headright for his loyality to the state, located at the corner of the cross roads of the
Martinsville/Nacogdoches road and the Melrose/Henderson starting in the center of said
roads and going east toward Martinsville and going south towards Melrose. Samuel B. Barron received this land for fighting in the Texas War for Independence from Mexico. This gave the
north boundry line and the west boundry lines. Both roads are still in existence and have
not been moved.

Samuel B., Phoebe, and their children were in Chambers County, Alabama in 1850 before coming to Texas.

1850 census, Chambers County, Alabama-
p. 333, #956 Barron, Samuel B. 43 m mechanic $150 Georgia
Phoebe 30 f Ga.
Sarah 12 f Ala.
Mahulch 9 f Ala. (should be Mahala)
Samuel 7 m Ala.
Tibitha C. 5 f Ala.
Robert 2 m Ala.

I am unaware of children of Samuel B. and Phoebe named Tibitha C. and Robert. The ages of the entire family, in the above listing, are incorrect. Samuel was 42, Phoebe 32, Sarah Elizabeth 10, Mahala 7, and, their son Samuel was either four or five. If Tibitha C. and Robert were children of Samuel and Phoebe, they must have died prior to the move to Texas. Census and school records in Nacogdoches County, Texas make no mention of Tibitha C. or Robert. Due to the approximate nine year gap between the birth of Samuel in 1845-1846, and, the birth of Phineas in 1854, it would be reasonable to assume that Tibitha and Robert were Samuel and Phoebe's children, but, died at a young age. If this isn't the case, they are probably a niece and nephew of Samuel.
