Thomas, Mary, and 4 children are shown on the 1840 federal census of Benton County, Alabama. In 1835, Thomas came to Texas and applied for land in Nacogdoches County. He received a league and labor of land in Grant #437. The family was in Chambers County, Alabama in 1850 before coming to Texas in a wagon train with the Elijah Muckleroy Family. Thomas was the first person buried in the Swift Cemetery in Nacogdoches County, Texas in 1857.
