Emory Ellsworth Barr (son of Wilson Barr and Caroline Myria Ballmer) was born 29 Feb 1880 in Dumontville, Fairfield Co. OH, and died 26 May 1941 in Columbus, Franklin Co., OH. He married (1) Genevieve Courtney Sill on Abt. 1905. He married (2) Francis Ann Ward on 02 Jun 1924 in Holy Cross Church, Columbus Ohio15, 16, daughter of Joseph Ward and Theresa Cullin.

BIOGRAPHY: Little is known about Emory's childhood. On 20 Jun 1898 he mustered in with Co B of the Fourth (4th) Ohio Volunteer Infantry ( The Official Roster Of Ohio Soldiers In The War With Spain, 1898 -1899). Hisrecorded age was 21 though he was only 18. He mustered out 20 Jan 1899 after serving in Porto Rico from 3 Aug 1898 to 29 Oct 1898. His unit captured Guayama, P. R. and then engaged in a general advance across Porto Rico.
After his military service Emory returned to his fathers home at 682 E.Fulton in Columbus OH. From 1900 to 1901 he worked as a core maker then becomes a clerk in 1902. In 1904 Emory moved to 674 E Fulton and was employed as a bartender untill 1906. During that time he married Genevieve Courtney Sill of Iowa apparant daughter of Ela Marie Sill. His first child, Marion Caroline was born on 1 Jan 1906. Around that time he became a conductor for Scioto Vally Railway and Power Company where hewas employed untill 1931. Genevieve died 9 Feb 1920 of Pneumonia and was buried in Greenlawn cemetery in Columbus. After the death of his wife he remarried to Francis F Ward of Washington Courthouse OH on 21 May 1924. She was the daughter of Theresa Ward, Daughter of James Ward of Ireland.Francis was born in March of 1889. On 11 Apr 1925 they had son Emory Joseph Jr.and then moved to 1192 Bruck St in 1927. Emory became a gaurd for the Columbus Gallery of Fine Arts in 1931 and worked there untill 25 May 1941 when he died of Angina Pectoris.
