David is an Emanuel Stevens & Sarah Abbott descendant through Christopher, William, William Enoch Stevens. David and I talked several months ago about a possible connection and were unable at the time to make it. Since then some of us have kicked it around a little and just recently John Stevens sent us his file of Christopher's descendants showing the above chart with Christopher's grandson William b. 1873 as the most likely one to be David's ancestor known to us as Enoch Stevens. Everything seems to fit and we think William is William Enoch Stevens. John's file gives Christopher and Katie Phifer with a child named William who had children Sarah, Harriet, William. We think this William is "Enoch" because the age is right and we know that our Enoch had a sister known as Sally which was a nicknmae for Sarah in those days. My mother and Aunt Mae Fincher Barnes knew Enoch and Sally but they didn't know what the connection was, only that there Papa called them his "Cousins". Thanks John for making that connection. William Enoch Stevens and his wife and children are buried here in Jackson, TN in Hollywood Cemetery. Please welcome David to our Internet family...
