Researching surnames Barclift & Plymale and their collateral families.

The Barclift surname was derived from Bartlett in the late 1600s in North Carolina. The Bartletts were English. The Barclift family began a westward migration from North Carolina in the early 1800s to Tennessee, Missouri, Alabama and Arkansas. Their collateral families includes the Ramsey, Edward, Warner, Stutzman, Thomas, Collins, Church, Bogardus, Covert, Walton and Stanton families.

The Plymale surname is first found in Virginia in the early 1700s. The Plymales are thought to have been French huguenots, but may have been German, with surname derived from Plyml. The Plymale family begin a westward and southward migration in the early 1800s to Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Arkansas, South Carolina and Georgia. Their collateral families include the Elder, Childers, Rowe and Tackett families.

Any additional information or corrections would be greatly appreciated.
