In the 1881 census he is in Silsoe, ? house lodge (part of Ampthill) Beds, still married with a son George W. aged 8 years. A police constable.
In the 1891 census he is still at Silsoe and living at West Park Farm Lodge and still a police constable. George is a "pupil teacher" whatever that is.
In the 1901 census he is still in Silsoe but living in the New Alms Houses. Still a police constable and married.
His son George W. is also a police constable but living at the police station at Hatfield as a lodger.
