I am conducting research into the family trees relating to both my own and my wifes family trees. This includes research on my grandparents families: Bateman (Clewer, Windsor, UK origins), Jamieson (Scotland), Crist (German/Austrian), Scott (Motherwell, Scotland), Pettigrew (Scotland), Cannons (Idstone, Berkshire, England), Abbott (MA, USA), Allott (Somerset, England), Dowdle (Devon, England), Manning (Suffolk, England), and Hutson (Litcham, Norfolk, England).
There is a large database of New Zealand based descendants and a number of interested groups of family members here in New Zealand.
A reunion of the descendants of William and Mary Allott was held in March 2001 in Christchurch, NZ. This reunion commemorated 150 years since this couple arrived in New Zealand and many of the family attended - providing a great opportunity for various parts of the family to catch up with each other and exchange vital data about their parts of the family.
We would love to hear from other branches of the family. History linking back prior to our ancestors arrival in New Zealand is often sketchy. We would love to make contact with 'long lost relatives' and swap information!.
