LAKE ORION -- A heart ailment caused the death of Miss Josephine McArdle at 10:15 pm Wednesday while she was making response to her welcome into the Maccabee Lodge, after her initiation into the order in the Maccabee Hall. Following initiation ceremonies it is customary for new members to make brief remarks. Miss McArdle had arisen and said but a few words when she collapsed. Friends laid her on the floor and administered first aid while Dr. A. M. Watson was called. He arrived quickly but expressed an opinion that she had died immediately, as she fell. A daughter of Joseph McArdle, she had been employed in the Murray's store here and is survived by her father, four brothers and a sister. She lived on West Flint street. Funeral service will be at 2 pm Saturday at the M. E. Church. The body is at Allen's Funeral Home.

  Notes for ALBERTA HARRIET MCARDLE:
She was single and died at age 17 (17, 10 months, and 15 days) of accidental drowning in the Village of Lake Orion. See the following newspaper article. She died just 5 days shy of her graduation...

LAKE ORION -- A plunge into the cool waters of Lake Orion, following a game of tennis, caused the death at 4:35 pm Saturday of Alberta Harriet McArdle, Lake Orion High School senior. The rapidity with which she sank and failure of efforts to revive her, lead to belief that she was seized either with sudden cramps or a heart attack. The tragedy occurred a short distance from the dock in the village park in seven feet of water. Alberta, who was 17, sank at almost the same spot about three years ago, and at that time was revived after being pulled from the lake, unconscious. A number of other young people were in the water or nearby Saturday afternoon. One of her brothers was in the water and a sister, Margaret, was on shore. Just before she was missed she had called back to her sister that the water was cold. Margaret, several years older, than Alberta, dived into the water in an effort to help her sister, and members of the Turtle club nearby, and villagers rushed to the park when the fire siren was sounded. The girl apparently did not reappear on the surface until her body was pulled up. Expert swimmers worked for more than half an hour in a vain effort to revive her. She was to have graduated with the Lake Orion senior class Thursday evening. Her classmates will attend the funeral in a body and at the service at 3 pm Tuesday, from the Lake Orion M. E. Church which she attended. Alberta was born in Jackson, on July 28, 1918 and made her home at 164 West Flint street, in Lake Orion with her father, Joseph J., and brothers and sisters. In addition to her father she is survived by two sisters, Josephine and Margaret; and three brothers, Robert, Joseph Jr., and William, all at home. The death was the sixth this year in Oakland County lakes.

AZEL IRENE KYES:
After her divorce, she had a cabin built near Roger City in 1946 for $500.00 facing Lake Huron. (Just your basic one room cabin with an outhouse and guesthouse located behind the cabin). The cabin layout contains a oil stove, kitchen, table and living room, which becomes the bedroom at night with the couch/bed and the twin beds by the windows for sleeping. The cabin was added on in July of 1972, which gained a master bedroom, bathroom and shower. It's the family getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city and a great vacation spot with a view. The stars light up the beach and if your lucky enough you'll experience the "Northern Light", "Shooting stars" and definitely see the "Milky Way". Hazel was buried on a windswept hill (like those of Lk. Huron) in the St. Agatha Cemetery at hers and her sister (Nellie) requests in Mayville, Michigan.
