Notes for JULIE ANN BATZLOFF:
Raised in Clarkston with her two younger brothers. Julie's godparents are John and Mary Wolf. She started going to school at the young age of 2, due to being born deaf. She attended Cherokee Hills in Waterford (kindergarten through 6th grade), moved on to Bloomfield Junior High (7-9th grade), then reached the milestone in her life of returning to hometown high school. Graduated in 1983 from Clarkston High School. She bought her first car at age 17 (1976 Pontiac Lemans) for $1500.00 at a garage sale. Her first job was working with the handicap kids at Clarkston Scamp as a counselor for $3.35 an hour for two summers. She worked for Perry Drug Stores, Inc. (bought out by Rite Aid Corporation in 1995) for 10 years working in accounting related jobs such as Accounts Payable, Internal Auditor and a Accounting Assistant. During this time, she put herself through Oakland Community College and received her Associates Degree in Accounting in June 1994. Julie's favorite recreational activities are...Volleyball/Wallyball, Bowling, Softball, Camping/Canoeing and vacationing up in northern Michigan at the family cabin's. My most memorable experience happened during my 9th grade field trip to Ohiopyle State Park in Pennsylvania for some Whitewater Rafting Adventure. It was 1979, when I was about 13 years old chugging down the river in a huge raft. I got to admit, I was very intimidated at the size of the raft and the huge churning river. In all, there was nine (9) of us plus our river guide making for the "tenth" man on the raft. All of my friends were hard of hearing, but didn't hinder us in the least. As we got familiar with the Yuhogahony River riding through Class IV & V rapids, we had the experience of a lifetime paddling for dear life to match the current and have the current take hold, passing by the massive boulders and rocks that seems rising out of the water. I remember my friend, Tony Dodge and I were on the rear of the raft. Well, we were traveling down a double 5 foot drop of rapids (10 foot drop in all) - made it through the first one, but the second spanked Tony and I off the raft tumbling towards the front of the raft into the water. Man was I surprised!!! at the strength of the river. We floated on the surface feet first into the rapids until ropes were thrown to pull us back into the raft and continued on with our trip. I don't remember being scared, just surprised!. Stopped for lunch and a swim. We sure did have fun on that river, camping under the stars and sneaking out of the campground for some more adventures (our teachers and volunteers probably didn't get much sleep that weekend). All in all, we had four (4) huge raft (a group of about 40 or more). Some of her other memorable trips was a cruise to the Bahamas in May of 1995 and trips to Las Vegas, Nevada. In Julie's spare time she can be found roaming the local libraries and courthouses searching for new leads (information) for her family tree. It started during her high school days as a science project in 1982 and been working on it ever since. Currently she works for Kelly Services at the GM Truck Group in Pontiac, Michigan. Julie currently resides in the Clarkston area.
