Born Billie Fred Dukes, had no birth certificate filed until an adult. Family doctor in Mansfield, Dr. McKnight, completed form for him. At that time, chose name of William Frederick Dukes.

Wrote a history of Mansfield, Texas, about 1940, which was published in the bulletin of the Texas Junior Historian. Notes for the project were provided by Norma Mann Pritchard, daughter of Mr. Mann, who was partner with Mr. Feild in a mill in Mansfield (thus the name).

William Frederick Dukes graduated from the Colorado School of Mines, Golden, Colorado, May 27, 1950, with a degree in Geological Engineering.

Lonnie Bob Dukes was born in Mansfield, Texas, and changed his name as an adult to Robert Leonidas Dukes. He volunteered for the U.S. Air Force in 1942 as a mechanic in the 7th Bomb Wing of the 3rd Air Force, and was discharged January 11, 1947. He was a flight engineer and made regular personnel transport runs from Washington D.C. through Cuba, Trinidad, and ending in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He joined the Air Force Reserve in 1947 and was called up to active duty in the Korean War. He served 4-1/2 years in SAC 7th Bomb Wing Heavy, 8th Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
