She was born 13 Feb 1822 in Hickman Co, TN, and died 18 Jul 1895 in Georgetown, Williamson Co, TX (or Bell Co, TX?).

Notes for J
OHN PRUITT BOYDSTUN:
John Boydstun's farm is said to be near Maxdale, Bell Co, TX. Shirley Ericson says both Serena and Amos Whiteley are buried on the Boydstun farm in Bell County, Texas.

A John P. Boydstun (who is too old to be this one, but record has not been identified) appears in 1834 on the Arkansas Territory Tax List living in Crittenden County, AR.

John P. Boydston is found on the 1850 US Census in Prairie Township, Prairie County, Arkansas:
Boydston, John P.       29      b. TN
      Cyrena      27      b. TN
      William      8      b. AR
      John C.      2      b. AR

John P. Boydston died in Newton County, Missouri, in 1854 and his wife and second husband are found on the 1860 census there, with John's children in their step-father's household.

No source I have yet found explains how John Boydstun was born in Tennessee, lived in Arkansas, died in Missouri, and had a farm in Texas where his widow and 2nd husband came to be buried. It may be that the farm obtained its name from one of his children, perhaps John C. Boydston.

Notes for S
ERENIA ELIZABETH BOYDSTON:
Serena Boydstun moved to Bell Co, Texas after her 2nd marriage, with brother Joseph Howell Boydstun. Tombstone reads:

Serena, wife of Martin Whiteley born Feb. 13, 1822, died July 18, 1895
"Lord she was thine and not my own, Thou hast not done me wrong"
Taken from "Joseph Whiteley, Sr. and His Descendants in America"

Message from Shirley Erickson (shirley@htcomp.net) April 2000:

Yesterday, Tiffany, the girls and I went to the Maxdell Community in Bell County, Texas. We found the Maxdell Cemetery where many Boydston's and one Whiteley are buried among others. Kay Tucker had told us about the cemetery in the yard of the Boydston family home. On our search, we stopped several times, asked directions and found the home and cemetery only to find the gate locked. Across the road, there was another home with someone outside. We stopped and found a Lawanda Boydston Parker who was very friendly. Her niece owns the Boydston property where Serena and possibly Amos Martin, Sr. are buried. I have her phone number and will call to try to arrange to visit both asap. The property has been in the family for over 100 years where 10 children were born. The next house (abandoned) South is the Ellis home where 13 children were born (supposedly all related). We also visited the school which is behind Lawanda's land and very much off the road. Pictures should be coming soon. I cannot at this point get all of these Boydston's and Whiteley's (this one is C. A. son of A.M. and M. A. Whiteley -- i.e. Amos Martin, Jr. and Mary Ann Huffman) tied into ours but know that they are. Does anyone have the information on Joseph Howell Boydston who married Malinda Ivie (We believe this is the Malinda Boydston buried in the Maxdale Cemetery but need to confirm)?? -- More later, Shirley

Children are listed above under (154) Serenia Elizabeth Boydston.
