Notes for R
UFUS NEELY BOYDSTUN:
Kimberly Burrowes shows a birth date of 30 Jul 1834 and death date of 26 Dec 1924. She shows only the child, John M. Boydstun.

Children of R
UFUS BOYDSTUN and CORDELIA COLLINS are:
  i.   WILLIAM S.9 BOYDSTUN, b. 1854; d. 1930, Water Valley, Yalobusha Co, MS; m. DELLA J. PRICE, 12 Dec 1876, see notes on marriage for possible child; b. 1856, "Dede"; d. 1919, Water Valley, Yalobusha Co, MS.

  Notes for JOHN M. BOYDSTON:
I originally had only two children for John Boydston: James and Benjamin. The others come from Kimberly Burrowes. She does not show child, James. Also death information comes from her as well as birth location.

Although early information gave a death date for John Boysdton as 23 Aug 1939, on the 1900 census Emma is alone with her children and states she's a widow. Unless it was just wishful thinking on her part I'm guessing that 1939 date was a typo (from Cindy Owens).

  Notes for CULLEN F. BOYDSTON:
Some of the details of this family, particularly about the Cathey side and all information about Frederick Boydston, come from Ann Boydstun Huffman (ahuffman@hctc.net) in September 2002.

It is not clear when this particular branch began using "Boydston" and it has been changed from "u" at Cullen, since this is Ann's earliest point of knowledge of the family.

Cullen is said to have been killed in a train wreck.

Notes for B
ENJAMIN FRANKLIN BOYDSTUN:
Jim Salling wrote 26 Jan 2002 and gave dates and burial locations for this family. His message was:

My great-great grandfather, Benjamin F. (probably Franklin) Boydstun, is not on your list of names in your family. He was b. 8/10/1826, d. 3/18/1915, and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery in Jefferson, TX. He may be the one you have a birthdate of 1828 with no death date.

B. F. Boydstun was a carpenter and mail carrier and got his thumb shot off in the battle of Bull Run by a Yankee musket ball.

He married Martha Clarida Owedeus (supposed to have been full blood Indian). Her tombstone just has Martha C. Boydstun on it. She was b. 9/18/1821 & d. 11/29/1904 and is buried next to him. They had a daughter Bessie, but I do not have her b & d dates. She is buried in McWright Cemetery near Kingston, TX. They also had a son, Samuel, who was killed by Indians; a son James H.(b. 3/5/1853, d. 4/16/1887), a son Justus B. (b. 6/21/1850, d. 3/23/1883) and another son William B. (b. 12/23/1860, d. 3/6/1892). The sons I have b & d dates are also buried in Jefferson. Maybe that will fill in some holes for you or mess up what you have already done!

Notes for M
ARTHA CLARIDA OWEDEUS:
Prior to Jim Salling writing, I had this woman's name as Martha Clarendon Owens.

Jim wrote 27 Jan 2002 with this information:

I have a correction on date of birth for Martha C. Boydstun-it should be
9/18/1831 not 1821.

I also have a serious question about her being named Martha Clarendon Owens. My mother & grandmother both said her name was Martha Clarida Owedeus. Clarida was pronounced Clair-EE-duh. Owedeus was pronounced Oh-weed-us. She was born in Fayetteville Co., AL. I suspect that whoever came up with Clarendon & Owens was trying to read a handwritten document and just could not decipher it.

My mother said that Daniel Owedeus (1800-1855) who died in Gonzales, TX was her father. She said Elizabeth Jones (1806-1887) was her mother. My mother wrote Fayetteville Co., AL under Elizabeth Jones name too, but did not say if that is where she died or was born there. With names like that, I don't believe Martha was full blood Indian!!!

Children of B
ENJAMIN BOYDSTUN and MARTHA OWEDEUS are:
  i.   JUSTUS B.9 BOYDSTUN, b. 21 Jun 1850; d. Mar 1883, Jefferson, Marion Co, TX.
  ii.   JAMES H. BOYDSTUN, b. 05 Mar 1853, Neshoba Co, MS; d. 16 Apr 1887, Texarkana, Miller Co, AR; m. ANNIE GARRET, Unknown; b. Bet. 1850 - 1860; d. Unknown.
  Notes for JAMES H. BOYDSTUN:
From Jim Salling in Jan 2002:

A little more insight on Jas. H. Boydstun, b. 3/5/1853 in Neshoba Co., MS (according to gravestone) d.4/16/1887 in Texarkana, AR (according to tombstone).

  iii.   SAMUEL BOYDSTUN, b. Bet. 1853 - 1857; d. Unknown.
  Notes for SAMUEL BOYDSTUN:
Samuel Boydstun and a partner owned many cattle and were both killed by Indians on the line of Nebraska and Dakota Territory.

Jim Salling says that a great nephew, Samuel Boydstun Wright, was named for this man.

iv.   BESSIE BOYDSTUN, b. Abt. 1858, was age 73 when she died; d. 29 Sep 1931, Greenville, TX; m. THOMAS LITTLE, Unknown; b. Unknown.
  Notes for BESSIE BOYDSTUN:
Death date obtained from query of Myra Knapp, 227 Lake Ridge Dr., Seguin TX 78155 (muchstuff@the-cia.net). Bessie was her great grandmother. Her mother was a Little. She also provides the name of one of the sons.

Jim Salling adds in Jan 2002: Bessie Boydstun Little was born in Daingerfield, TX, not far from Jefferson. She taught school at Wagner. She built a house in Wagner on a 128 acre farm.

  v.   WILLIAM B. BOYDSTUN, b. 23 Dec 1860, Houston, TX; d. 06 Mar 1892, Jefferson, Marion Co, TX.

Notes for BENJAMIN FRANKLIN BOYDSTUN, JR.:
Notes from Jim Salling in Jan 2002: I never heard about B. F., jr. being a child of Thomas & Bessie, but I am sure you are right. My mother & grandmother both talked about "Uncle Benjie" and being a conductor on the railroad, but I assumed it was Edith Little Wright's brother not her uncle (or both).
