180. HARRIET MARINDA ANN8 BOYDSTUN (BENJAMIN FRANKLIN7, JOHN B.6, JAMES5, DAVID4 BOYDSTON, WILLIAM3 BOYLSTON, THOMAS2, THOMAS1) was born 10 Jan 1842 in Hancock Co, IL, and died 09 Sep 1919 in Rockwall, Rockwall Co, TX. She married FRANCES CLARK 14 Apr 1864 in Rockwall, Kaufman Co, TX; perhaps other children, son of FRANCIS CLARK and EVILINA ... He was born 06 Apr 1830 in "Frank" b. Notes for F
RANCES CLARK:
"History of Rockwall County, 1842-1965" by O. L. Steger, Sr., 1969

"Frank Clark came to this community from the state of Missouri and settled about one and a half miles north of the town of Rockwall, where Bob Hays now lives. In the year 1856, at the same time his father-in-law of whom I shall speak came and settled at the same place. I do not remember Mr. Clark's first wife, she did not live long after getting here. I remember his two sons by his first wife, only one of whom is now living. His name is Abraham S. Clark and resided in Navarro County, Texas. On April 14th, 1864 and during the war, Frank Clark was married to Harriet Marinda Ann Boydstun, his present wife. Most everyone here knows his family and as I said before, she was my schoolmate, she being a large girl and I a small boy. We called her Rinda and most of the boys and all of the girls loved her. Uncle Frank, as he is now called, knows a great many things in connection with the early settlement of our community and frequently calls and helps me out..."

The families of William H. Smith and Francis Clark moved on to Freestone County, Texas between 1856 and 1958 and Francis is found in the 1860 census of Freestone County. Frank's first wife, Drucilla Smith, died in Freestone County in 1859 and is buried in the Cotton Gin Cemetery, as is their son, William Clark. William Smith's son, Presley, married one of the Boydstun daughters before 1860 and is also living in Freestone County. In the 1870 census of Kaufman County, Texas, Presley and Francis Clark are neighbors and Francis Clark has married Harriett Marinda Boydstun.

B. L. Boydstun and Family

B. L. Boydstun came to Baird, Callahan County, Texas by train on September 15, 1889 to take charge of a mercantile business his father, J. D. Boydstun, had established from the sale of his Rockwall County lands. Young Boydstun had been born in Rockwall County and "the West was something new to him."

When he arrived in town, he registered at the Miller Hotel, just east of the Redwine Hotel. The railroad had not been there long, and the town was booming. Freight wagons congested Market (Main) Street, cowboys rode boisterously down the streets, and railroad train whistles sounded and bells rang. At that time, eggs sold for as little as five cents a dozen, and country butten taken in trade for groceries was secretly thrown in the garbage can as having insufficient value to handle.

His business thrived, and he opened additional stores Oplin, Clyde, Denton Valley, Putnam, and Cross Plains. He was in the cotton gin business at Baird, Clyde, Eula, and Putnam. He was also in the grain and cotton buying business in Callahan and Taylor Counties.

When Lula Starnes came to Baird to visit her sister, Mrs. Dudley Foy, she met B. L. Boydstun and they later married in Scottsboro, Alabama in 1892.

B. L. Boydstun married Inez Franklin in 1926 after the death of his first wife.
