LICE ISABEL BOYDSTON:
Nancy Yeakel located Alice Boydstun Yeakel's obituary in April, 2000. It appeared in the 1 Feb 1959 edition of the Wichita Eagle:

Woman, 81, Dies Here Saturday

Mrs. Alice Isabel Yeakel, 81, of 728 Governeour Rd., died Saturday at her home. She resided at the home of a daughter, Mrs. A. L. Ashley.

She was born January 20, 1878, in Hamilton County, TX. She first came to Wichita from Fort Scott, Kansas. For 11 years she resided in Stockton, California. She returned to Wichita in 1958.

Her husband, Eugene Olen Yeakel, in the shoe repair business here, died in 1920. Mrs. Yeakel was a member of the Apostolic Faith Church.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Ashley include two sons, William D., Roswell, NM; and Emmett E., Stockton, CA; three daughters, Miss Margaret Yeakel of the home, Mrs. Madeline Tilma Rummelt, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Mrs. Eugene Cornell, Laverne, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Notes for E
UGENE OLEN YEAKEL:
Nancy Bender (walnan@tcac.net) writes in September 1999:

Have been doing more on the Yeakel family. Found Eugene Yeakel in McLean County, Illinois, in 1896...

Other members of the Yeakel family moved to Fort Scott in 1882, Christian, the father of James, Joel, Susan, and Mary who also moved with him. Another Yeakel, Grace was also in McLean County in 1896 (from old diaries), but she also showed up in Fort Scott in 1897. Grace was sister of my grandfather, Leslie Ollen Yeakel.

Marriage license lists Eugene O. Yeakel, age 29, (1871) married to Alice I. Boyston, age 22, dated August 1, 1900, in Fort Scott.

Marriage license for Gracie Yeakle, age 17,(1880) married on April 21, 1897 to Edgar Higgins, in Fort Scott, KS.

Still don't have positive connection, but my grandfather's name was Leslie Ollen Yeakel, born 1874. His other siblings were Alma (who married in McLean in 1889), Grace (no date). Have children for all other Yeakel men, so at a loss as to who Eugene Olen belongs to...but, appearing at Yeakel gatherings, with Grace and Alma.

The connection to Fort Scott and the "Olen" name make him a very, very close relative.

Domonoske had Mary Elizabeth Booty and Dearcy Booty listed as "Mary Dearcy Booty" (one person). However, Beverly Dowden Williamson (jawmson@Ticnet.com) says that these are two individuals and that Hugh Dowden married both of them.

Although it is probable that the two were sisters, I have not entered them as such until further information is available.

  Notes for EDWARD WORTH DOWDEN:
Edward W. Dowden was born 22 Aug 1869 per Domonoske, which is not correct. Could this be a marriage date?

According to Beverly Dowden Williamson, Edward W. was married three times. The marriages are posted. The children are not certain as to which wife had the children.
