He married MARY ELLEN FUGATE 20 May 1866 in Clay Co, MO, daughter of EZEKIEL FUGATE and DIANA BOYDSTON. She was born Abt. 1838 in Tennessee, and died Unknown.

Notes for MARY ELLEN FUGATE:
Ruth Walton speculates that this Mary Ellen Fugate is the daughter of Ezekiel Fugat. Ezekiel's daughter would have been born about 1847, if the birth order of the children is accurate. The origin of the birth dates of his children is U.S. Census records of Ezekiel. Ezekiel has another child born in about 1838, which is the estimated birth date of the wife of Stephen Boydston. Ezekiel did have a daughter, Ellen, born about 1834.

Stephen and "Ellen" are enumerated on the U.S. Census 1870 in Platte County:

Mary Ellen Fugate first married a William Green and had the children listed above. William may be the brother of Levi who married Nancy Fugate. The identity of Annie Fuget is unknown, but perhaps is a sister of Ellen. Again, Ezekiel had a daughter, Ann, but the age is wrong for this to be that daughter.

Ruth indicates a Nancy Bodyston married Jim Schell.

Ridgely Cemetery records list a Nancy C. Schell (1867-1959) & James H. Schell (1879-1953). Although there is no indication as to the maiden name, this seems more likely to be the Nancy Boydston b. abt 1867, daughter of Steven and Mary Ellen (Fugate) Boydston than of Moses and Rachel Crow Boydston, which is where Ruth records the marriage.

She married JOHN FRANKLIN MARION FUGATE 09 May 1854 in Platte Co, MO, son of EZEKIEL FUGATE and DIANA BOYDSTON. He was born 1833 in Cocke Co, TN, and died Unknown in Platte Co, MO.

Notes for JOHN FRANKLIN MARION FUGATE:
Ruth Walton's notes have the same marriage date as death date for John Franklin Marion Fugate. One is probably incorrect. As this couple had a number of children, I am guessing the date applies to the marriage, not the death, of J. F. M. Fugate.

She lists as sources for information:
Marriage records, officiant, S. H. Hudspeth. The couple were first cousins, his mother and her father being siblings.

Cemetery Records of Platte County, in which no dates appear for Nancy Boydston Fugate, and perhaps the same is true for her husband.

Notes for WILLIAM R. BOYDSTON, JR.:
Susan Boydston (susanb@cysource.com) records William as the III, but his grandfather is Nathaniel. It may be that the father was named the II after his great-grandfather, as Susan suggests, or to distinguish him from another William, but for simplicity's sake, I retain Sr. and Jr. for this father and son.

It is Susan Boydston who provides the additional children of the couple and also more complete information on the two I had entered before -- Willie and John Lee.

Sharon McAllister (Lutherok@cs.com) wrote in May 2001 that she had located William (and provides a middle initial "R") in Dewey Township, just south of Luther, Oklahoma. This was a census record, apparently the 1900 US Census, although she merely says that the census showed the couple had been married 2 years, and had one child, still living.

Cemetery Records of Platte County, Missouri, Vol. 2 p. 11 lists a Willie Boydston b. 7 Apr 1855 and died 19 May 1925.

Information on the Lee/Willie Boydston listed with this family comes through Ruth Walton from Dorothy Naylor and indicates that Willie died 27 Oct 1972. The information continues "Willie Boydston, son of Will Boydston, was a cousin to Wesley Boydston. Will Boydston Sr. and Nathaniel Boydston were brothers." She adds that Willie's wife was named Wilda, and their children included Claude Boydston who married Marie Smith.

Of the numerous Nathaniel and William Boydstons, this is the only combination that fits the circumstance described above.

Susan Boydston (susanb@cysource.com) sends in March 2000 information that this child is named William "Willy" IV (see notes on the father) and was born 30 oct 1879 and died 26 Oct 1972. She further gives information on Lee born 7 Apr 1877 died 18 May 1925, buried in Missouri. She states that "Willy" married Wilda Montgomery.

This should lay to rest the confusion encountered early along.

Susan lists "Willy" as William IV, but once again, since a generation is skipped, I have made the decision for now to list as III, indicating consecutive generations, to avoid confusion.

Sharon McAllister (Lutherok@cs.com) adds the middle initial "R." in her correspondence of May 2001.

  Notes for WILDA MONTGOMERY:
Sharon McAllister found this birth date on a census record of 1900. The record lists the wife as "L. E. Boydston," thus there may have been another marriage.

According to the census, there was a son born to the union in April 1899 in Texas, who was still living at the time of the 1900 US Census.

There is also the possibility that this is a different W. R. Boydston.
