Christopher Boydston is listed on the 1880 Census of Jackson County, KS in Douglass Township, E. D. 106, Sheet 5, Dwelling #28.

One of his descendants if Howard D. Andrews, 320 S. Madison, Grand Island, NE 68801 (1984 address).

The town of Meriden is just in the western border of Jefferson County. Jackson County, Kansas is the locality of the Pottawatomie Indian Reservation, which consumes about half the county. Both are north of Topeka about 10-15 miles.

Cemetery Records of Platte County, Missouri, Vol. 2, Platte County Historical Society, 1980, p. 11 (gives birth year as 1831 and says he served in Civil War). (Apparently records of Camden Point Community Cemetery.)

Data from Sylvia Miller includes a copy of Moses' obituary:
"One of Platte County's oldest citizens -- Moses Boydston -- died Wednesday, August 8, 1928, at his home nar Settles Station, at the age of 96 years...He was born in Cox (sic) county, Tennessee, Jul 7, 1829, and came to Missouri with his parents when eight years of age. On March 8, 1863, he was married to Rachel Crow Boydston of Buchanan County. To this union eight children were born. Three have gone on before, namely: Betty, died 1910, Priscilla, died when a small girl, and one in infancy. Five are left with their dear old mother to miss their father: Henry Boydston, Mrs. Mary French of Camden Point, John Boydston of the home, James Boydston of Kerrville, and Mrs. Emma Green of Drexel...Mrs. Boydston, who is also very old, was unable to attend the funeral...Sixty-five years of wedded life, always there with him, caring for him, leading him when his eyesight was gone..."

Another researcher, Gerald L. Stubbs, of Columbia, MO, lists Rachel's death as 11 Apr 1939.

He was born 31 May 1828 in Cocke Co, TN, and died 21 Aug 1913 in Desoto, Johnson Co, KS.

Alfred came to Clay County, MO with his parents in 1829, and Elizabeth Jane with hers in 1932. After they were married, Alfred farmed in Clay County, and on 1 Apr 1851, he purchased 160 acres of land from his father (Book M, p. 298) and lived there a number of years.

He was a circuit preacher, and sources disagree as to whether he was ever ordained, but he did not serve as a full-time minister.

Alfred took the Loyalty Oath and gave Bond in Clay County, MO, but also served in the Missouri Militia under Sterling Price.

In 1873, the family moved to Johnson County, KS and lived near Desoto. His health began to fail in 1900, and Alfred and Elizabeth Jane went to live with their sons in Kansas City, MO. However, Alfred died at the home of his daughter in Desoto. Elizabeth Jane apparently lived with son, Columbus F. "Lum" and his family until she died. All her children (8 sons and 1 daughter) survived her death in 1916.

  Notes for WILLIAM EDWARD BROADHURST:
Notes of Steve Verden: Known as Rev. W. E. Broadhurst, he was a member of the Western Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. He lived for a while in Oxford, Sumner County, Kansas. He lived in Crystal City, Texas, in 1913, and died of pneumonia in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 85y 11 m 24days. His daughter Anna bought his crypt on the day of his death.

William E. Broadhurst's obituary appeared in an Austin, Texas, newspaper, "American Statesman," 14 Sep 1982, and also in the "Tulsa World" and "Tulsa Tribune" (Oklahoma,13 and 14 Sep 1982.

William E. Broadhurst is buried in Prairie Lawn Cemetery, Wellington, Summer Co, Kansas. His death certificate is available from the state of Texas.
