Find Family
I'm researching the Bateson/Gangwer/Sturdevant/etc... families from NW Ohio & beyond. If you see incorrect or incomplete information, it's because you have not yet given me that information. Also manually entering information on over 400 individuals may have introduced errors. Please email me anything such as: additions/corrections/stories/photos/etc...

ANCESTRAL FINDINGS:

Bateson:
Origination in England, but again I can't make the link to our line. We have James and Ruth Bateson, probably of Fairfield County, Ohio in the mid 1800s. There is a lot of known information on a huge group of Batesons in central Ohio, but I have not yet made a positive link to them. I do know that many of our grandparents use to go to Canada every year to a cabin on what was then called Bateson Lake (now dry).

Gangwer/Gangewehr/Gangewere/Gongaware:
Originating in Germany my Gangewehr ancestors settled in the Lehigh Co, Pa. area then a few including I believe a Samuel M. Gangwer moved to Seneca Co, Ohio. It seems the last name may have been changed on or about the same time as the move to Ohio. Because of this and dozens of Samuel Gangewehr/Gangwer in the Lehigh Co area, I'm stuck.

Sturdevant:
Originating in the Scandinavian countries, the Sturdevant/Sturdivant/Sturdavant surname is huge. Settling mostly in the south, I haven't been able to make a good link. I've got John Sturdevant born in Connecticut about 1773. I loose positive ancestral links beyond that.
