1. SHIPMAN *2 TABOR (?1) was born 1815 in Perry Co., Tennessee, and died 1869 in Bell Co., Texas. He married (1) ELIZABETH UNKNOWN Abt. 1836 in Prob Tennessee or Mississippi. He married (2) ? UNKNOWN Aft. 1854 in Prob Bell Co., TX.

HIPMAN * TABOR:
Shipman was born in Perry Co., TN ca 1815 and married Elizabeth Unknown ca1836. Elizabeth was also born in TN ca1819. Their son David was born in TN prior to the family leaving for MS.
Shipman has been found in Calhoun Co., MS on 27 Feb 1841 with a land patent for this county, doc # 18156, for 40.09 acres of land, listed next to him is Sarah TABER, and a few other TABER's. Research continues at this time!
Shipman and family can be found from 1843 to 1849 in Carroll Co., AR where Martha and William A. were born.
On Nov. 3, 1850, Shipman lived in Rusk Co., TX, was age 35. His son James was born here in late 1849 or early 1850. Shipman was listed as a farmer on the 1850 Rusk Co., TX census.
From the book, "A History of Coryell Co." by Zelma Scott. On page 52, is a copy of a newspaper account of conditions in Coryell Co. in 1857. In this account is the story of a man named TABER, that lived 17 miles from Belton, on the Noland, and had his horses stolen from him by Indians and how he tracked them. The only TABER in Coryell Co. as listed on the tax records is Shipman TABER for this year.
On the 1857 tax rolls it has Shipman owning no land, 2 horses valued at $100.00, total personal property valued at $100.00, total taxes paid was $1.97 1/2.
In the book STATE ABSTRACTS of CORYELL COUNTY to August 31, 1941, on page 337, shows that Shipman was the original grantee for Abst. #1024, cert. #23. On Feb. 22, 1858 it shows David Gray as the patentee, patent #370, vol. #17, for 320 acres of land in the Milam Dist., File #1245.
Family history has it that Shipman lived on Cow House Creek in Bell Co., TX. The mouth of Cow House Creek is at Belton Lake.
