Connie'sConnections-Howell, Womack, Moree,& PritchardUpdated June 25, 2014 | WELCOME!!! I have been researching for 20 years, and I have accumulated lots of info on my family lines. A small amount of that information is posted on this site. If you have any information to share,questions about the family, etc please contact me. I research many lines, but primarily the following: WOMACK/WOMAC, HOWELL, PRITCHARD and MOREE. My GGGGF was Alexander WOMACK, born about 1797, in Virginia. He later lived in North Carolina, where he married (1) Mary Neal, and (2) Freelove THOMPSON, my GGGGM. In the 1830's, they moved to Polk Co., Tn., where they remained until the 1860's. About the time of the Civil War, they settled in McMinn Co.,where they stayed until their deaths. Between the two wives, Alexander had 13 children. The Womac/Womack lines still live in McMinn, Polk, & Hamilton County, Tn, and of course, other areas. I owe a SPECIAL THANKS to a lot of people for contributing data for my Womack file, but especially the late Ray Bryan Womack, without whom I could never have gotten truly started on my Womack research. I also owe thanks to the late Sam Womack. My Moree line has been a challenge, due to the various spellings of Moree, Morie, Marie, Moreau, etc. Thanks to many researchers, but specifically Jim Marie, for giving me the info to really get started on this line. I have since accumulated a lot of Moree data, but am always looking for more. A line that I would love to have additional info on is my HOWELL line. Pleasant Howell(b.abt. 1828) was the son of Lavinia/Vina/Viney Howell. Lavinia is thought to be the daughter or daughter-in-law of Malachi & Elizabeth Reedy Howell, however I have been unable to prove her parentage or if she was ever married. Pleasant married Sarah Barns in Roane County, TN in 1845. They are listed on both the 1850 & 1860 Roane Co., TN Census. By 1870, Sarah & children are in Polk Co., TN, without Pleasant. Family rumor states Pleasant died fighting for the South during the Civil War, however I have no proof. He joined McKenzie's 5th TN Calvary in Dec 1862 as a private & was mustered out (date unknown) as a private. His last child was not born until 1866, and the war ended in 1865!! I know he was in the war, but have no clue when he died, except that it was between 1863 and 1870. I have tons of data on his descendants & am glad to share. Several of the children moved from TN and settled in Oklahoma & Texas after 1880, but there are still a few I cannot find. Any help on this family would be GREATLY appreciated!! My Davis family were in Hamilton Co., TN from at least 1857. Robert N. Davis married Ann Eliza Lee/Lea in 1857 in Hamilton Co. Descendants of Robert & Ann still live in the same area, however we are unable to determine where Robert or Ann are after 1880. There is a lot of confusion on this line due to the common surname. My Prichard/Pritchard line has been a total dead end. I find my grandmother, Sarah Elizabeth Pritchard listed on the 1920 census as widowed & on the 1930 census with my grandfather, John P. Womack.I cannot find her prior to that date. She was born in 1898 supposedly in Bradley Co., TN, so should be listed somewhere! She stated on my Mother's birth certificate that she was born in Bradley County also. I find her sister Mary in 1910 in Polk Co, TN, but I cannot find Sarah or her mother listed on the 1900 or 1910 census records. Her mother, Rebecca Pritchard married the second time to James Miller in McMinn Co, TN on October 1, 1903. Rebecca & James had a son, James Henry Miller on October 20, 1905. Yet again, I cannot find Rebecca in the census for 1910. As stated, this family is a dead end, as my research has yielded little to nothing. If you know this family, please contact me!
