Uncle Carl Cox went to work for the Roanoke Fire Department in 1935. Was fire chief for city of Roanoke.
He died in the line of duty the year that he was to retire. Carl A. Cox died Oct. 7, 1972 of a heart attack suffered at a house fire at 332 Patton Ave.
