I am researching family members both from Denmark and Scotland, on my mother's side (i.e., Bayne) of the family. My grandmother Olga Hansen Bayne came as an immigrant to Canada around 1903, as an au pair for friends of her newly widowed father. They had promised to care for her and to send her back, but they suffered misfortune, and abandoned her in the prairies. She worked as a dairy maid and as a parlour maid, and eventually met my grandfather, Albert Richardson Bayne, who was the son of the last of my grandmother's employers, Louisa Bayne, wife of Mr. Bayne of Tuxford, Saskatchewan. Olga and Albert married in Tuxford, Saskatchewan on November 21, 1910, with his brother Ansley and her brother Lauritz (also known as Louie) as witnesses |
