Family History
I am researching the names BAWN, MCKNIGHT, LEMON,YOUNG, MCADAM,
GALLOWAY, BLACK, HAGGERTY and KELLAR. Here is info I have for BAWN SURNAME and other surnames, if you have a match or would like to share info please contact me at the e-mail ADDRESS BELOW.
I have most of the dates of births and deaths and some marriage
certificates.
JOHN BAWN apparently came from Ireland I don't know what ship or
port that they came through, or what year they came to Canada.
He was born around 1814 and he settled in Ontario Canada and
married Martha (McKnight) she to came from Ireland and was born
around 1814.
The census show place of residence at birth is Ireland. The ceremony took place in Kingston Township, Ontario, Canada at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on May 5 1846. Witness were (Hugh Mcknight) and (Colin McNab). Both were Presbyterian.
Most of this family took up farming, and they settled in the
Kingston area and than later to the Camden East, Lennox Addington
area in Ontario Canada. JOHN BAWN died on December 3 1864 at the age
of 49. His wife Martha Bawn (McKnight) born around 1814.
died on May 5 1866 in Ontario Canada.
They had 4 children 1 son and 3 daughters.
1ST child son Robert John Bawn was born 03/17/1846 and died 01/13/1923.
2ND child daughter Mary Jane Bawn was born around 1850 and she to
married a surname of Frederick Lemon not sure if this is the correct
Ist name in (PA Pitt).It shows in 1884 that she was a widower.
3RD child daughter Agnes Bawn married Robert John Young (she married
Mary Elizabeth's Youngs brother(Robert John Young) (Peter Scouten Young
father & Margaret Black mother) and apparently settled in possibly
Fredericton, Ontario Canada. I show them buried in Talbout Cemetery.
4TH child daughter Martha Ann Bawn born 09/01/1858 and died 09/01/1947
she married David L Lemon (PA Pitt) and had 4 children.
The only son apparently ROBERT JOHN BAWN married Mary Elizabeth Young
(BLACK) sister of Robert John Young) on 10/30/1867 in Canada Ontario
township of Kingston.Mary Elizabeth Young was born around 1847 and
died 05/18/89 her parents were (Peter Scouton Young & Margaret Black).
Robert John Bawn & Mary Elizabeth Young had 10 children:
1ST son Peter Allen Bawn went to SC New York
(his son died young searching for his wife's name and son's name.)
2ND daughter Martha Ann Bawn,
3RD daughter Margaret Ready Bawn married a Haggerty,
4TH daughter Delilah Bawn some time went by the name of (Eva) she
married a surname of Porter.
5TH Minnie E Bawn died at an early age.
6TH daughter Susan E Bawn married Lieutenant Joseph Fleming and
apparently died in Florida from some of her letters this is the
last known residence.
7TH son Semour F. Bawn son drowned at an early age
8TH daughter Minic E. Bawn died at an early age
9TH son Herbert S. Bawn married Joanna (Annie) McAdam
10TH daughter Mary Jane Bawn (Iva Pearl on birth certificate)
married John Herbert Kellar.
Robert John Bawn's first wife died and he remarried on (03/27/1890)
to Eliza Ann Campbell born 10/18/1855 and she died 04/12/1920.
Most of the Bawn's Are buried in Reidville Cemetery in Lennox Addington
Ontario Canada.
They also had 3 children:
Nellie Bawn who married Piercy Edmond Harton,
Lily Bawn who married Stanley Doupe
Bertha E Bawn who married Ross McGregor.
One of the sons of Robert John Bawn,Herbert S Bawn born 08/03/1883
died 09/06/1969 (grandfather) married Annie Bawn(Joanna McAdam) on
October 25 1918 in Ontario Canada.She was born 03/21/1896 and died
01/06/1986 (grandmother)
They had 5 children all born in Ontario Canada.
Harold Bawn,(deceased) Marie Bawn (Young) Roy Bawn,(deceased) Glen Bawn, and my Father Jack E Bawn born Sept.14 1929 and died Nov.13 1993 at the age of 64.
My grandfather Herbert S. Bawn could have been married before in
the United States around the Watertown New York area
