I am researching the BAYLIS family from Long Island, New York. In the 1850's Samuel Baylis was a potato farmer on Long Island in the Elmont -Valley Stream area. Baylis Ave. in Elmont was name for him. He had two sons Jesse and Theodore. Jesse married Tessie Doxey. It is believed that her mother was an Indian Squaw. I am also researching Alfred A. Barnes. He was born in 1886 in New York and died in 1954 in Colorado Springs, Co. He married Edith Hintz in 1906. He may have changed his name to Borntraeger around 1917. His family was from Germany. In addition, I am researching the SMIRK family. Thomas Smirk married Ester Herkles in England in mid 1800's. Some Smirk family members immigrated to Brooklyn NY in 1919-1920. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
