* Bazan Family of New Mexico*

Updated November 16, 2007

The Bazan family has been in New Mexico since the arrival of Don Ygnacio Ricardo Bazan, a Master Weaver, sent by the Spanish Viceroy to Santa Fe in 1807. The Gutierrez, Gallegos, Lucero de Godoy, Duran de Armijo, Duran y Chavez, (Cabeza de Vaca) Baca, Gonzales Bas branches of the family go back 14-15 generations in New Mexico...We descend directly from several of Albuquerqueque's, Santa Fe's, Bernalillo's and Alameda's founding families. We have three generations of early N.M. politicians through our Bazan and Giddings branches. The Giddings side arrived in Ipswich, Mass. in 1635 and through Jane Lawrence, wife of George Giddings of St. Albans, England we descend,in an unbroken line, directly from the 8th Century and Charlemagne the Holy Roman Emperor, Alfred the Great, William the Conqueror and Rollo the Viking.Jane Lawrence is also the GGG+Gtandmother of Diana,Princess of Wales, and her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry...and of Franklin Deleanor Rooseveldt and other U.S.Presidents....and through Giddings marriages we descend from the Mayflower Pilgrims.
