This is a male only "Y" chromosome DNA project, meaning that a male descended from one of the above surnames must have direct descent from his father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, gggrandfather, in this lineage. The "Y" chromosome is passed directly down the male line, paralleling the surname descent.
Unfortunately this eliminates female descendants unless they can enter a male family member of direct descent (surrogate)into the project.Females may participate by taking mtDNA tests too.
