  Notes for Johanna Cecilia Scanlan:
Brigidine Nun Mother Xavier. She was a teacher and was attached to the Colbinabbin West State School no 1218 from 1905 - 1908. It was said thet she was chaperoned in this position by her Aunt Mary Scanlan as it was not acceptable for a young lady to live on her own.
She did her apprentiship at the Beechwoth State School prior to this post.
She entered the Brigide Convent and made her first profession of vows at Albert Park on the 6th January 1912 and her final vows on the 6th January 1915. She remained at Albert Park as the infant teacher and is listed on the electrol roll for both 1919 and 1924 as residing at the convent at Albert Park. She graduated to a senior school teacher at Malvern. From 1922 - 28 she was the Superior of the Malvern Community and Principal of Kildara from 1920- 1922. From 15 Dec1941 to 22 Dec 1947 she was the Superior of Hawthorn . In 1948 she became ths Mistress of Schools for the community and the 1st Assistant to the Community
