My name is Doug Beaver. I'm researching many of my own family lines as well as those of my wife. Some of the primary areas of my study are listed below:

The Beaver family of Berks County, Pennsylvania, Rowan County, North Carolina, Butler County, Ohio, and Hamilton and Brown Counties, Indiana.

The Phillips and Bottom families of Washington and Mercer Counties, Kentucky.

The Doane family of Massachusetts, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and Chatham County, North Carolina.

The Davis, Kittinger and Dwigans families of Wayne and Hamilton Counties, Indiana.

The Gardner and Cottrell families of Madison County, Indiana.

The Watkins and Lee families of Virginia.

The Deel family of Floyd, Harrison and Crawford Counties, Indiana.

The Beatty, Drake and Flick families of Orange County, Indiana.

The Vianco and Clark families of Monroe County, New York, and Tippecanoe County, Indiana.

  • George W. Deel & his wife, Margaret (Leaser) Deel (98 KB)
    George Washington Deel was the son of William and Sarah (Sinclair) Deal. George's wife, Margaret, was the daughter of Jacob and Philippina (Schumacher) Leaser. George and Margaret were married April 14, 1901, in Crawford County, Indiana. They lived near Wickliffe.
  • Absolom Beaver Family - circa 1903 (80 KB)
    Front: Elsie Odessa, Absolom, Margaret Louisa (Gardner), Mary Catherine. Back: Ernest Leroy, James Thomas, Elmer Leander, George Floyd, Clarence, Harvey Calvin. Absolom and Margaret were married January 21, 1880, in Madison County, Indiana. Their family of ten moved to Brown County, Indiana, shortly after the turn of the 20th century.
  • Ustynia Debelska and her Daughters (70 KB)
    This photograph was taken around 1900 in the Ukraine. Ustynia (Koszelowska) Debelska is seated in the center surrounded by her daughters. Ustynia was the wife of Mykola Debelska. Mychalenia Debelska, future wife of Petrus Komar, is on the far left wearing a white scarf.
  • Elizabeth Reese Wise (146 KB)
    Elizabeth Reese was the daughter of Herod Reese. She was born 1771 in North Carolina. She was married three times - first to Charles Cox, second to John George Harmon and third to Jacob Wise. She died about 1849 in Jackson Township, Orange County, Indiana, and she is buried on the Davis Dotson farm. This photograph was taken about 1848.

    Left to Right: Margaret Viola Phillips, Mary Etta (Kittinger) Phillips holding baby Mary Etta Phillips, Fidellar Phillips and Edna Florine Phillips (sitting on porch swing). I have not been able to identify the two people in the background. Fidellar Phillips and Mary Etta Kittinger were married 1906 in Marion County, Indiana. Fidellar was the son of Lucas Aaron Phillips and Ellen Paralee Bottom of Washington County, Kentucky. Mary Etta was the daughter of Charles C. Kittinger and Margaret Dwigans.
  • Elmer Leander "Lee"& Anna Belle (Johnson) Beaver (25 KB)
    Elmer Leander Beaver was known as "Lee" Beaver. He was a son of Absolom and Margaret (Gardner) Beaver. Lee's wife, Anna, was a daughter of Nathaniel Johnson and Sarah Smith.
  • Bridget (Daily) Booz (48 KB)
    Bridget Daily was born January 1846 in Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Francis "Frank" Daily. She was married twice - first to Edward Joseph Vianco and second to John M. Booz(e). This photograph was taken June 16, 1929.

    William Deal and his wife, Sarah Marinda (Sinclair) Deal. This photograph was taken in Wickliffe, Crawford County, Indiana, around 1914.
  • Jacob Scharf & Some of his Descendants (81 KB)
    Jacob Scharf was born 1833 in Gersheim, Bavaria, Germany. He died 1919 in Delphos, Allen County, Ohio, where he is buried in St. John's Cemetery with his wife Maria (Kihm) Scharf. In this photograph, Jacob is surrounded by some of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
  • James Beaver and his sister, Rachel (Beaver) Rose (57 KB)
    James and Rachel Beaver were siblings. They were born 1840 and 1841, respectively, in Hamilton County, Indiana, to Peter Beaver and Susannah Hodson. Rachel married Randolph Thomas Rose.
  • Adam Beaver (65 KB)
    Adam Beaver (1847-1930) was a son of Solomon Beaver and Catherine Pickle. He was married twice - first to Lucinda Standley and second to Emma Margaret Shepard.
  • Cora Ellen (Seals) and Christopher Beatty (58 KB)
    Cora Ellen (Seals) and her husband Christopher Beatty. This couple lived in Orange County, Indiana.
  • George August Fortener (57 KB)
    George August Fortener was the son of Louis and Lucy (Scharf) Fortener. This photograph was taken around 1915.
  • Susan (Barnes) Smith & Daughters (83 KB)
    Susan (Barnes) Smith is surrounded by four of her daughters - (clockwise from top left) Sarah M., Mary Ann, Laura Etta and Emma May. There were also four sons and another daughter who are not pictured here. Susan married John Smith in 1857. This photo was taken around 1890.
  • Wolodymyr (Walter) Obuch and Marusya (Mary) Komar (88 KB)
    Wolodymyr (Walter) Obuch and Marusya (Mary) Komar were married February 16, 1930, in Montréal, Québec, Canada. They were both born in the Ukraine.
  • Eliza (Wildoner) Dwigans (43 KB)
    Eliza (Wildoner) Dwigans was a daughter of Samuel Wildoner and Rachel Hoffman. She was born 1845 in Indiana and died March 23, 1932, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She married James F. Dwigans in 1864. This photograph was taken in 1930.
  • Perry Preston Gay Drake (99 KB)
    Perry Preston Gay Drake was the son of Jefferson Drake and Mary Theona Reynolds. Perry was born 1892 in Orange County, Indiana, and he died 1945 near Murdock, Charlotte County, Florida. This photograph was taken around 1930 in Florida, probably on Sanibel Island.

    Edward Joseph Vianco II and his wife, Mary Esther (Clark) are standing. Sitting are James Patrick Ryan and his wife, Nell (Clark). Mary Esther and Nell were sisters. This photograph was taken on the Ryans' wedding day, June 24, 1908.

    Edward Joseph Vianco II was a well-known undertaker and funeral director in Lafayette, Indiana. He was the husband of Mary Esther Clark and the son of Edward Joseph Vianco I and Bridget Daily.
  • Charles C. Kittinger (18 KB)
    Charles Kittinger was the son of Joseph Kittinger and Asenith Davis. He married Margaret Dwigans 1883 in Hamilton County, Indiana.
  • Archibald Gardner (36 KB)
    Archibald Gardner was born 1795 in New York. He married Eunice Shaw in Franklin County, Indiana, December 24, 1816.
  • Petrus Komar Family (117 KB)
    This photo was taken around 1923 in the Ukraine near the town of Ternopil'. Petrus Komar and his wife Mykhailina (Debelska) Komar are pictured with their children - Dmytro (standing in back), Mykola (far left), Justynia (sitting in front), Marusya (far right), and Stefcia and Sabienia (back left and back right - unsure who is who). Marusya married Wolodymyr (Walter) Obuch in 1930.

    Jefferson Drake is standing in the back. The woman holding the baby is Lessie May (Underhill) Drake - second wife of Jefferson's son, Perry Drake. The children are Perry and Lessie's. The woman in the back has not been identified. This photograph was taken around 1935 - probably in Florida.
