| 26 July 2009 I have upgraded to the latest version of Family Tree Maker, and it just doesn't work quite the same as the one I had from several years ago. In the end, I had to delete the old "Descendants of Robert Beasley" file, and attach an HTML file to replace it. So, the file with the newest updates is here, just in a different format. Also, look at the Links section. I am in the process of uploading actual trees to Ancestry.com. That does make it a little easier for a researcher to find things. Good hunting! I received some additions/corrections from some distant cousins, which prompted me to get an update done. Not to mention, a number of things changed in my own family line. So, there is some new information, but on the descendant line as opposed to the ancestor end of it. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get back to doing some serious work. My thanks to those who have taken the time to contact me with additions and corrections. As always, those individuals are credited in the report as the source of the new info (in the Notes section). I continue to encourage anyone mentioned in that report to email me if you see any mistakes or discrepancies, if you have more current info you would like to see posted, or if you object to having your name included in the genealogy. The report 'Descendants of Robert Beasley' should not be confused with another Robert Beasley report found at another home page. My Robert Beasley received a land grant in Bladen County, NC in 1778, part of which ended up being in Columbus County when that county was formed. The source document for information through the 5th generation is "Beasley Family Geneology (sic), One Family Tree Data", compiled by Edward Orlando Beasley and Lois Marguerite Beasley, of Montgomery, AL (completely transcribed to the report on Robert Beasley). The book appears to be well researched, but I have not been able to contact the authors or their heirs to examine their sources. Data on the 5th generation through the present has been acquired from living family members. The book information ties in, and agrees with, data acquired independently. The report is presented with that in mind. The report on my ancestors is derived from many sources- from living relatives and work done by relatives and others- and deals primarily with the surnames Beasley, Bryan, and Hopping. Other surnames I'm interested in are: Johnson, King, Norwood, Boyett and Allen (south AL, which tie in with the Bryan line) and Long, Campbell, and Morris (central FL, which tie in with the Hopping line). Information found at this page or in any of the reports is available for the use of fellow researchers only, not for commercial purposes. At last count, the Robert Beasley file has 2906 individuals; the John Hopping file has 4523 individuals; my ancestor report (where you'll find the Bryan line) has 393 individuals. |
