The following obituary clippings about my great-grandmother came to me with no attribution but were probably from the Mt. Pleasant Journal and the Greensburg Tribune Review. I have typed them verbatim.

Mrs. Sadie Greer Ramsay, widow of the late Morris Ramsay, died late Tuesday afternoon at her home, 729 Walnut Street. She had only been sick since the previous Saturday. Deceased was 74 years of age on last New Year’s Day. She is survived by one brother, William Helman, of South Greensburg and by the following children: William Ramsay, Bethlehem; Mrs. Sadie Eaton, Brownsville; Mrs. John L. Shields, Walnut Corner; George Ramsay, Bradenville; Mrs. Christena Stahl, Brownsville; Robert Ramsay, Greensburg; Miss Alice I. Ramsay, 729 Walnut Street; and Mrs. John P. Clarke, Jr., Dormont. Her descendants numbered 40 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the home at 2 o’clock Friday afternoon followed by internment in the family lot in the Union cemetery located at Irwin.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sadie Greer Ramsey [sic], aged 74, widow of Morris Ramsey [sic], were held Friday at the Mount Pleasant home where she had resided for the last 35 years. Internment was made at Irwin.


Eight children, forty grandchildren and sixteen great grand children survive. The daughters are Mrs. Sadie Eaton, West Brownsville; Mrs. John L. Shields, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. Christine Stahl, Brownsville; Miss Alice at home, and Mrs. John P. Clarke, Pittsburgh. The sons are William, Bethlehem; George, Latrobe and Robert, Greensburg.

Mt. Pleasant, July 13–Mrs. Sadie Greer Ramsay, aged 74 years, widow of Morris Ramsay, died yesterday in her home. She had resided in Mount Pleasant for 40 years and was well known here. She was a member of the Reunion Presbyterian Church. She leaves 7 children, 40 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
