Adelaide (Feb. 3, 1892-July 14, 1982) was the youngest child of Morris and Sadie Ramsay. This picture was taken in 1893 in the Ramsay home in Mt. Pleasant, PA. The child, who was not yet born when the family portrait below was taken in 1890, is the namesake of Henry Clay Frick's wife, Adelaide.

The pink granite for the tombstone was imported from Scotland to mark the final resting place of my great-great-grandparents who were both born in Scotland. They are buried at the Union Cemetery in Irwin, Westmoreland Co, PA. Shown are the bottom two sides of a four-sided obelisk.

At 18, 1st cousin Erskine was the Connellsville coal region's youngest mine superintendent. He later became an inventor and industrialist, giving away $5 million by the time he died. Erskine was the nephew of my great-grandfather Morris Ramsay.

My father Robert (1912-1967), who was a civil mining and radio engineer, entered the US Army on Jan. 13, 1941. He served principally with the Signal Corps and endured many campaigns. Robert, seen here in his dress whites c. 1943, remained in the Army until 1950.
