2. ELIAS2 BEEMER (HENRY1)1 was born 19 August 1806 in Beemerville, Sussex County, New Jersey1, and died 29 March 18961. He married (1) CAROLINE BAKER, daughter of JOSEPH BAKER. She was born February 1809, and died 11 July 1841. He married (2) PHOEBE ALBRIGHT1 Abt. 1840, daughter of JOHN ALBRIGHT and CATHERINE HOOPER. She was born 17 February 1825 in Barton, New York1, and died 17 February 19011.

LIAS BEEMER:
Elias Beemer was born in Sussex County, New Jersey on August 19, 1806 and died March 29, 1896 on the homestead farm. He was twice married, first, to Miss Caroline, daughter of Joseph Baker of Newton. She was born in February 1809 and died July 11, 1841. His second wife was Miss Phoebe, daughter of John and Catherine (Hooper) Albright of Abington. She was born February 17, 1825 and died February 17, 1901. Soon after his second marriage, Mr. Beemer built a saw mill on his farm, and for about fifteen years engaged in lumbering.
Mr. Beemer had seven children by his second wife, namely: (1) Allen D. born Dec. 19, 1842, and married Miss Belle Ackerly. He was a soldier in the Rebellion, enlisting in Aug. 1861 in Company K, 11th Pennsylvania Calvary, and served until the close of the war. About 1870, he went west, locating in Cumming County, Neb. Here he started the new town of Beemer, Nebraska. He was twice elected sheriff of the county. He died in April 1909, while warden of the Nebraska state pennitentiary. (2) Jennie, born April 14, 1845, and married O.D. Hollister of Avoca. (3) George W. (4) Horace D., born Aug 29, 1849, and about 1875 went to Wyoming where he married. He is a director of the First National Bank of Laramie City, Wyoming. (5) Ella, born July 4, 1853, married W.H. Hollister, a brother of O.D. Hollister. He is a coal operator and a merchant in Avoca. (6) Samuel W., born November 18, 1855, and is a storekeeper at the Hillside Home. (7) Oakley, born Aug 15, 1855, and married Miss Etta Smith. They are living in Clark's Summit.

She died 5 June 1838. He married (2) HANNAH JANE VAN AUKEN 14 October 1838 in Lackawanna County, Pa, daughter of JOHN VAN AUKEN and RACHEL ROSENKRANS. She was born 8 June 1821 in Walpack, Sussex Co., N.J., and died 2 May 1892 in Compton, Lee Co., Ill..

ESSE BEEMER:
Jesse moved on to Illinois in 1847.

One of the first Trustees of the Newton Methodist Evangelical Church.

After marrying Hannah Jane Van Auken d/o John Westbrook and Rachel (Rosenkrans) Van Auken on 14 October, 1838, Jesse bought a farm on Buttermilk Flats, on th Susquehanna River where he built a log home. Jesse farmed here until 1847 at which time he and his family migrated to Wyoming Township, Lee County, Illinois. The following spring, Jesse bought 148.14 acres east of Beemerville Church. Jesse donated a northwest corner of his land for a school where most of the Beemer children attended. Jesse had nine children after settling in Lee County to go with the other sic children.
Jesse died on July 5, 1886 as a result of pneumonia, his lungs already weakened by asthma. His tombstone reads: Jesse Beemer, Died July 5, 1886 Aged 72yrs 3ms 7ds.

ANNAH JANE VAN AUKEN:
      Hannah Jane Van Auken was born in Sussex County, New Jersey, June 8, 1821. Her father John W. Van Auken, was a native of the same state as herself; her father being a farmer, and passing his years in Sussex County.
      Hannah spent her girlhood in her native state and when a young woman accompanied her parents to Pennsylvania. She was carefully instructed in the duties of the household, and remained an inmate of the home of her parents until she was called upon to preside over one of her own, her marriage with Jesse Beemer taking place in 1838.
      Mrs. Beemer was the mother of fourteen children, all of whom married but one; Alpheus, Rachel, Everett, Millard, Mary, Lydia, Ida, John, George, Roseella, Sarah, Emma, Lorella, and Charles.
