| This Beecher family of Beaver Dams, in Upstate New York can be traced back to "the boat" in 1637 when John Beecher arrived at what is now Boston. It is reported that Hannah Beecher, his wife, arrived from England the next year with their son Isaac (b. ca 1625). Isaac, had five sons of his own: John b. 1645, Isaac b. 1650, Joseph b. 1647, Samuel b. 1652, and Eleazer b. 1655. (The middle son, Joseph, is the ancestor of the famous Henry Ward Beecher and Harriet Beecher Stowe line.) This website is dedicated to the descendants of the fifth son, Eleazer. This branch of the Beecher family migrated to New Milford, Connecticut, and then to Hinesburgh, Vermont. In the early 1800s, they traveled to Beaver Dams, New York, and family is still living in the area near there. It's been a fascinating "journey" getting to know the family. A wonderful trip ..... backward! I'm very glad to share information. Feel free to e-mail me with questions or additions to this Beecher tree. I'll be glad to hear from you. |
