Eleazer Beecher (son of Isaac Beecher and Mary F. Sperry)19, 20 was born 08 Apr 1655 in New Haven, CT, and died 02 Mar 1725 in New Haven, CT. He married Phebe Pringle on 05 Nov 1677 in New Haven, CT, daughter of William Pringle and Mary Bronson.

Eleazur Beecher bought and exchanged with Benjamin Bunnell, July 2,1684, ten acres of land in that part of West Haven, called West SideFarms, on west side of Main Street, near corner of Union Street.Bounded on the east by William Prindle, on the west by Peter Mallory,Jr. and north by Elm Street, and south by Main Street, in quantity tenacres more or less. New Haven Land Records, Vol 1, p. 248

Here he built the house in which he lived and died. Six children,subsequent to this date, were born here. He afterwards sold six acresof the rear, lying on Elm Street. The house was a familiar landmark,and well remembered by its ancient appearance, being of olden style,and having a large stone chimney in the center. The house was removedin 1896, the placed having been purchased for the site of the presentCatholic Church parsonage.



Will of Eleazur Beecher, b. 1655. Probate Records, Vol 5 page 283.At a Court of Probate held in Newhaven, Monday, April 4, 1726.Present Judge Warham Math, Joseph White, Clerk. Nathaniel Beechernominated exutr. of the last Will and testament of Eleazur Beecher,late of Newhaven, deceased, exhibited the said instrument in Court andapproved for record, and said exutr. accepted trust commited to himbefore this Court. Will. In the name of God Amen.

"The third day of January, 1723. I, Eleazur Beecher, of Newhaven, &c,disposes of his property in the following manner and form. Imprimis.Afters just debts and funeral expenses are fully paid and satisfiedout of my movable estate. I give and bequeath to Phebe, my dearlybeloved wife, all my movable estate of what kind or sort soever.

Item, I give and bequeath unto the child of my daughter Obedience,deceased, five shillings. I give and bequeath unto the three childrenof my son Eleazur, deceased, forty shillings apiece. I give andbequeath unto my son Steven Beecher five shillings. I give andbequeath unto my daughter Hannah Clark five shillings. Having alreadygiven to my son Nathaniel forty acres of fifth Division Land by deedin consideration of his granting and confirming about seventy acres ofland at Pilgrims Harbor to my son Isaac Beecher. I esteem that infull of said Isaac Beecher's portion, and therefore he shall notdemand nor receive any more of my estate.

I give and bequeath unto my son Nathaniel Beecher all my real estate,whether housing, lands or meadows, both divided and undivided lands,to him, his heirs and assigns forever; he, the said Nathaniel Beecherto take care of and afford suitable maintainance to my beloved wifePhebe, so long as she lives or bears my name; and also to take intohis care and keeping my son Ebenezer Beecher, who I desire may alwayslive with Nathaniel so long as he lives. I having given Nathaniel themore estate that he may carefully look after that impotent child. Andmy will is that if Ebenezer shall survive Nathaniel, Nathaniel'sestate shall be at the charge of Ebenezer's maintainance, as the Judgeof Probate in this county shall direct. Furthermore, I do constituteand appoint my sd. son Nathaniel Beecher the sole exector of this mylast Will and Testament. In witness whereof, I have set my hand andseal in Newhaven the day and year mentioned.

Witnesses appeared in Court of Probate April 4 1726, and made oath tosignatures of the above Instrument.
Nathaniel Beecher, exutr. of Will, exhibited inventory of sd.estate in Court, which was approved for record.

Among articles mentioned besides the usual household goods, are twocows, farming tools, and several parcels of land, amounting tofifty-one acres. The whole apprized at L 147 10s 4d.
