On Monday, August 6, 1832 Thomas Sleep prepared a will in the presence of three witnesses - James Dawe, Richard Dawe and William Mutton. The document reads:
"In the name of God Amen I Thomas Sleep of the Parish of Landulph and County of Cornwall do make and appoint this as my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say I give devise and bequeath to Mary Sleep my beloved wife all those Houses and Gardens known by the names of Mays and Taylors situate and being in Cargreen in the Parish and County aforesaid. Also I give devise and bequeath to Mary Sleep my beloved wife all my household furniture Goods and Chattels every thing I possess she paying my just debts and funeral expences (sic) and I do hereby appoint her my whole and sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament. Also I hereby declare it to be my Will that if any of my Property wether (sic) Lands Goods or Chattels should remain unspent at the death of my beloved wife that then All my children shall take it And divide it equally amongst themselves according to their own discretion and judgment and they also paying all just debts that may then remain unpaid, and I do hereby declare this to by my last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have this day set my hand and seal August 6th 1832. Thomas Sleep."
Thomas Sleep died a little over two years later on Monday, December 12, 1834 and was buried December 15th in Landulph.

According to the marriage records of the Parish of Linkinhorne, Cornwall, Banns of Marriage between Thomas Sleep and Mary Saunders were published on three consecutive Sundays in October of 1791 - Sunday the 9th, Sunday the 16th and Sunday the 23rd by James Coffin, Vicar. The couple were married in the parish church on Monday, October 31, 1791.

John Sleep, shoemaker, died on 18 October 1877 at Bere Alston, Devonshire, England at the age of 84 years. Cause of death was given as "senectus exhaustion," the informant for the death certificate being his son John Sleep, who was present at the time of death. John was buried in the churchyard of Holy Trinity Church in Bere Alston. The inscription on his headstone reads:
"In Affectionate Remembrance of JOHN SLEEP who died October 18th, 1877, Aged 84 years. We miss him But how sadly, Bleeding hearts alone can tell, Earth has lost him, Heaven has Found him, Jesus has done all things well. Also MARY Wife of the above, Who died December 5th 1882, Aged 78 Years, Also JOHN SLEEP, Died Nover 5th 1942, Aged 72 ys. Grandson of the above."

Sampson and Kitty Sleep are found in the 1841 Census of Landulph, Cornwall residing in the village of Cargreen, where Sampson was employed as a "cordwainer." The census schedule also enumerates his wife Kitty and children Ann and William as well as 25-year-old Mary Quance, a dressmaker.
Sampson Sleep, a "boat maker," died on Sunday, 20 February 1887 at 46 Marlborough Street, Devonport, Devonshire, England at the age of 82 years. The cause of death as listed on his death certificate is "general infirmities, bronchitis, certified by E.J. Hinvest." Informant was his son Alfred Sleep, who was present at the time of death.
Sampson Sleep is buried in the churchyard at Landulph, Cornwall alongside his wife Kitty. The headstone inscription (in full) reads:
SACRED TO THE MEMORY OF KITTY THE WIFE OF SAMPSON SLEEP WHO DEPARTED THIS LIFE APRIL 16TH, 1848 AGED 43 YEARS ALSO SAMPSON SLEEP HUSBAND OF THE ABOVE DIED AT DEVONPORT FEB 21ST 1887 AGED 82 YEARS (Note that the date of death as far as day of the month is concerned is conflicting on the death certificate vs. the headstone inscription.)
