December 22, 1665 in North Carolina, as were the later children, none of whom were listed as imprortees into the colony in 1694. John BENTLEY, "son of Richard", married November 6, 1694 Ann BARROW, daughter of John and Sarah BARROW (Hathaway, op. cit., Vol. III, p. 402). He died in 1695. His will, dated October 15, 1695 and probated at the November Court, 1695 (Grimes, N.C. Willis, p. 29) mentions his brother Richard BENTLEY; cousin Elizabeth LEARY, daughter of Cornealious LEARY; wife Ann; John and Roger, sons of his brother-in-law Jenkin WILLIAMS; brother-in-law William BARROW; friend Jonothan ASHFORD; and makes his wife Ann and his brother-in-law William BARROW his executors." |

Richard Bentley, b. Feb. 2, 1668-9. heir of his father after his brother John's death, deeded 640 acres to William RAY on March 11, 1696-7 (Winslow.. op. cit., p. 46). He died in 1697 and was never married. His will, dated April 6, 1697 and probated May 27, 1697, leaves all his property to Diana WHITE, whom he appoints executrix (Hathaway, Vol. I, p. 79). |
