I am researching the VANCE and MOTTLEY(MOTLEY) families from Wilson County, TN. My Great Grandfather, Edward Lee Vance (11/28/1859-9/4/1949), was the son of Edward R. VANCE.He married Ella MOTTLEY(or MOTLEY) daughter of Samuel MOTTLEY but I don't know the year. They had sons: Sam, Zeb, Jim and Foster and daughters: Edna and Alice. I've been able to trace the VANCE side of the family back to Samuel VANCE who came to Frederick County, VA from Ireland sometime between 1692-1734 but I don't have any information about the MOTTLEY side of the family.I'm looking for information about the ancestors of Sanuel VANCE in Ireland and also Samuel MOTTLEY, father of Ella MOTTLEY.Any information would be appreciated.
